Wine Insiders & Geja’s Cafe, Chicago
Park City resident John Davis will be celebrating his 48th year in the wine and restaurant business this June.
In 1965 Davis founded Geja’s Café (www.gejascafe.com), in Chicago, the country’s premier fondue restaurant known for its extensive and fairly priced wine list. The restaurant has been profiled in both The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal and internationally on CNN.
Chicago peers voted John Davis “Wine Educator of the Year”
For many years John wrote a wine column for one of Chicago’s monthly magazines, Today’s Chicago Woman and was an early wine blogger. During his career he has hosted hundreds of wine events, including tasting and dinners. He currently writes a monthly newsletter for his on-line company, Wine Insiders (www.wineinsiders.com), which ships wine to members throughout the U.S. In 1993, his Chicago peers voted John the “Wine Educator of the Year.”

During his career John has traveled to vineyards and wine cellars around the glove seeking out the best wine values for his Wine Insiders and restaurant clients. An opponent of snobbery, he believes that wine should be fairly priced “so as not to leave one with a financial hangover.
