Quinnie (Wai K Lee)

QuinnieQuinnie (prounounced Queen-ee, also known as Wai K Lee) grew up in a small town in Malaysia, as a Hakka (the “Guest People”) from China. Her town, Slim River, was named by the British Army, and is about an hour north of the capital, Kuala Lumpur. Growing up with her mother who owned a restaurant, and helping her sister at her noodle shop, Quinnie started learning to cook at a very young age. Most of her cooking skills, ideas and experiences, however, she says were inspired by her overseas travel, beyond her work in restaurants.

Quinnie’s passion for cooking is unconditional. She loves to learn about nutrients, taste, food chemistry, history, diet, healing and allergies. She describes food as fun to work with “like a Zen garden in your mind and hands.”
